Fall 2016 Quilt Market Recap

Hey fabulous makers!

I hope everyone had a great week! Now that we’re back from Quilt Market we’re ready to start showing off our upcoming collections. But before we do that, we have to show you a glimpse of our time at the trade show. We’ve prepared a re-cap for you to experience all the fun we had at the show!

ArtGalleryFabrics_Houston2016Market_42

For this year’s concept, we designed an open plan booth surrounded by themes of color. We wanted to show off all the bright colors in our fabrics. So, the best way of doing this was by creating color stories with handmade products and inspirational images. Our layout reminded me so much of the beautiful merchandising of retails stores like Anthropologie.

ArtGalleryFabrics_Houston2016Market_26

One of my favorite parts of the booth was the floor. I know it sounds bizarre, but it was amazing! We covered the black convention center floor with patterned decals that said LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH. I thought it was a beautiful way of summing up our ideas and all of the things we love.

ArtGalleryFabrics_Houston2016Market_47

But the most exciting part of this year’s Quilt Market in Houston was that we won the 1st Place Multiple Booths Award! We were over the moon when we heard the announcement and they came to hand us the award. This showed us that hard work pays off and we were so happy to share our joy with everyone who came by our booth.

To take a glimpse at Quilt Market with an AGF twist, I invite you to view this video re-cap we’ve prepared for you (and you get to see me as the host (✿◠‿◠)). Enjoy!

I hope you had fun watching our re-cap video and that you felt like you were there with us.

Feel free to tell us about your favorite parts of the video in the comments.

See ya!

LIVE from Quilt Market in Houston

Hey there, beautiful makers!

One of our favorite times of the year has arrived! It’s time for FALL QUILT MARKET in Hosuton, TX! Over the past weeks you got to see all the amazing fabric collections we have prepared for you this season and now we get to show them off to all your favorite shops. Since Quilt Market is only open for industry professionals (fabric shops, long arm quilters, pattern makers, etc.) we know it’s a bummer that all of you awesome makers can’t come.

But that’s not going to stop us from bringing you with us! Get ready to take a tour of our Quilt Market Booth, LIVE on Facebook. Stay tuned on Sunday, October 30th around 2:00 pm EST to see how creative our booth design is this time! Also, make sure to keep your eyes glued to our Instagram account to see all of our antics from the moment we build our booth. We can’t wait to show you everything!

Hope you see us at Quilt Market!

The AGF experience at Quilt Market.

Hello hello!

I'm glad you enjoyed our pics from Market, it was soo much work but oh so rewarding in the end!

So you know how they say "a picture is worth a thousand words"? Well that might be true, but because nothing tells the story like a VIDEO, the video-editing genius and graphic design extraordinaire Kat (part of our awesome AGF team lol) made this cool video about our experience at Market.

As you'll be able to tell, it was insanely rolling-on-the-floor-laughing fun and we had the best time ever, I honestly can't complain.

So if you never attended Market you'll be able to see a little bit of what really goes on in there (plus you'll get to see the AGF team making a fool out of ourselves in public lol)

I still laugh everytime I watch it ha! What do you think, is this what you would expect to see at Market? What do you imagine it's like? Do share!

Happy long weekend everyone!

Love,

Pat.

Fall Market Recap.

Hey!

This is Fab again. Last post I told you I would come back with the recap on what went down at Market in Houston... so here it goes!

QuiltMarket_fall2011(5)WEB

This is our Hyperreal Garden wall; there's actually a fun fact about the mannequin's flower head lol. Basically, it was a total accident. We had some leftover flowers so I just went ahead and jammed them in there as a joke and then Pat goes like "I LOVE THAT!", so they stayed! They actually look pretty awesome IMHO.

QuiltMarket_fall2011(8)WEB

Some Hyperreal pillows... no pattern yet :$

QuiltMarket_fall2011(10)

And this is the Bespoken wall... I particularly ADORE the pattern on the wall. It should be wallpaper right?

QuiltMarket_fall2011(9)

QuiltMarket_fall2011(1)WEB

This was quite a show-stopper; the "blender wall", made out of strips of Pure Elements and Oval Elements, people even asked if they were painted on the wall, haha!

QuiltMarket_fall2011(2)WEB

QuiltMarket_modernology(1)WEB

Aaaand the Modernology showroom which I'm madly in love with! Seriously, the last day of Market when we had to take it all out I almost cried. I might have shed a tear.

Between you and I, the sight of that bed from accross the aisle was KILLING us.

NOTE TO SELF: Cover books with fabric as soon as I move out. The girls and I were dying when we saw how they turned out!

This dress almost makes me wanna have a daughter like, now. Almost

QuiltMarket_modernology(11)WEB

And that's Pat receiving the award for 2nd Best Double Booth! For the 2nd time in a row! Woohoo! It's cool to get the recognition for all the effort you make... and it's even cooler to hang the red award ribbon on the wall lol.

QuiltMarket_fall2011(12)WEB

Joking around with the guys on our favorite couch... hey! After all, what is work without a little play?

Well I would show you some of the new stuff we presented but let's just keep the intrigue a little longer... it's more fun ;)

Hope you enjoyed the scoop and I'll be back soon... but before that you'll get to see some changes around here and get to meet my co-workers (and awesome friends) Angie and Kat. So yeah... stay tuned!

xo,

Fab.

The AGF Team Talks: Meet FAB.

Hey there! This is Fab. I've been working for the past year or so as the merchandising director for Art Gallery Fabrics. Some of you are prolly like "merchandising director sounds really fancy and cool and all but... what is it exactly??" hahaha. And that's okay, I must confess sometimes I don't even know what it is since there's SO much that has to do with it.

But let's not bore you with annoying details about my job (hey, I only get one chance to make a first impression and I don't wanna be the "annoying rambling one", though I do tend to ramble a lot and there you go, I'm rambling already).

Long story short, I'm in charge of the whole image thing. You know, styling, photoshoots, visual displays, showroom designs, you name it. Basically whatever makes our fabrics look good, hahaha, though it's not a huge challenge since they're already gorgeous ;)

Woodwork3

Sometimes even a lil' woodwork is necessary... (don't try it at home kids!)

Woodwork4

Behindthescenes1

Sometimes workin' under the Miami sun... (tougher than you think!)

Guitar_dreaming2

Sometimes even a little modeling! Hey, gotta do what you gotta do!

Thing is, we just came back from Market a coupla days ago and it was awesome! It's actually my 4th show (my 2nd Houston!) and I figure I am now in a position to elaborate and share my insights and opinions about it. Cause when I first started I had NO CLUE what I was getting into, counting on the fact that I'm a fashion merchandising graduate and only thought of a quilt as a "thingie to cover yourself in the winter with" hahaha.

But now, after 4 shows, I really have discovered this whole amazing sort of underground world that is the quilting and sewing industry. And I LOVE it and it's not scary anymore (well... sample spree may still give me the chills lol) and I'm getting the hang of it...

Plus I do believe there is a strong connection between my fashion background and the quilting industry; the way you mix colors, the way you make a print "work" with another, has to do a lot with fashion too.

So stay tuned cause I'm gonna be spilling all the Market scoop with pictures and videos and cool stuff! Real soon!

Nice meeting you all, we'll talk soon ;)

xo,

Fab.

Back to the East Coast.

Wow. That's basically the word that sums up my trip to Los Angeles. From the crowded downtown streets, to the gorgeous shopping district in Santa Monica with its flawlessly dressed people, everything was just Wow. And please do not get me started on the weather. Yeah, I know the Miami weather is not really something to complain about, but California weather is PER-FECT! Can you imagine a life without hair frizz?

Aaaaanywho, the first day we got there we didn't have to do anything show-related so me and the girls went out shopping in Santa Monica... well, not a lot of actual shopping was done, more like "window shopping" but oh well. Still fabulous!

Ok this store was amazing. Period.

Brandy Melville is the name of this super cute store. Think california surfer girl meets Anthropologie. Gorgeous!

Then it was time to get down to business.

Latextile1

At l.a textile they make this thing called the "trend forum", which consists of inspirational visuals from the fall 2012 trends; fabrics, notions, pictures and pure awesomeness. They do this so designers can immediately understand what the upcoming trends are, and what kind of fabrics they should use... and guess what?? I spotted quite a lot of my fabrics in the pack! Biggest honor ever.

Can you recognize some Bazaar Style, Hyperreal Garden and Bespoken? And the tribal print from Bohemian Soul? Woohoo!

The girls made this gorgeous caftan dress using our new voile! Wish you could touch the picture and feel the softness lol.

We made these cool dreamboards to create different moods;and also made one board for each of the Fall 2012 trends. There were a headache to make but totally worth it!

Going crazy for LA Fashion!

For the past couple of weeks I have been extremely busy having 22 hour workdays. Yes, no sleep and a lot of stress, but at the end I know it will all pay off. My amazing team and I are going to the LA Textile Show this weekend for the first time! We are extremely excited and super stressed, all at the same time! We will be located at Penthouse A-Wing & B-Wing, Booth #2001. I would love to show you all my new collections designed for fashion! If you are planning to go to LA textile, don't be shy! Come by and say hi!

In case you did not know I'm introducing a new substrate, VOILE! Yes, we are moving into fashion! I am super excited! Moving into a different industry is one of the biggest steps I have ever made in my career. Every step you make in life means change and challenge, but I love challenges and the passion that drives me makes that everything work out for the best.

And yes... don't worry, these fabrics will be available for the quilting industry too, so I'll be showing them at Quilt Market...

Now you have an idea at how hectic my life is right now. Between my new fabrics collections, new quilting patterns, new kits with the new fabrics, the LA textile Show, Quilt Market in Texas, photo-shoots and much more, I'm surprised I don't have fumes coming out of my ears! Someone once asked me, "How do you do it all?" My answer.. "I simply Love what I do"!

Since this is our first time going to LA Textile, I thought it would be a great idea to give you all a sneak peek at what we're going to be showing...

Fabrics_inside_web
Hmmm... I wonder what can that be?!?!

What's going on here?!? ... I don't know :)

IMG_5747
Here's Vicky having a blast. She was the best team player. I have to say she was strong enough to brave the Miami heat.

  IMG_5760
Vicky came out amazing in this image. It was pretty hard to decide what picture was the best. I think we found a new super model.

I hope you enjoyed my little sneak peek at what we will be showing at LA. I promise to bring back lots of great pictures of fabrics and fabrics galore! If you decide to come, keep in mind that LA Fashion will be October 10-12 at the California Market Center. See you there :)

Love,

Pat

Getting ready for market...

You know I love your comments, so thank you so much for your positive feedback on Hyperreal Garden!

A little bit less than a week away for market and we are still sewing at the studio... All of the sewing machines and the girls have been working non-stop trying to keep up with all the ideas we've had for samples.

Market2011

With so much done, it seems like the girls and the chairs are all entangled with thread.

Market2011(2)

Here is a Verona Bag in the making with Bazaar Style...

Market2011(3)

Cutting patterns and more patterns...

Market2011(4)

And this one of the girls working on a dress I will be wearing...

Market2011(5)

We tried to keep the rolls neat after sewing, but it seems that was impossible...

Market2011(6)

It has been a busy month, but it's all well worth it!

I can't wait to share with you this Spring Market 2011. See you next week with a juicy recap and all the gossip!

Love,

Pat.

Spring Market Recap (Part II)

Hey ladies!!

How's your holiday going? A Monday off work always comes in handy right?

Well, I wish I'd knew what that looks like! Holidays don't apply to me when it comes to designing my next collections, choosing the colors, drawing, creating new patterns, writing, making samples, and getting done everything that's on the everlasting to-do list tattooed in my head!

But oh well, I'm so passionate about what I do (and designing has to be my favorite stage!), that I almost don't mind skipping the holiday this time...

I wanted to thank you all for your lovely comments on my booth at Market, besides creating something appealing and inspiring for the shops, I really have YOU gals in mind too when I think about the whole display... So it fills me with joy to know that you actually like it!

But hey! The booth is not everything. This time around we decided to step it up a notch and go for the showroom!

Now imagine this: you have a 10x10 feet white cubicle ready to be filled up with whatever you want and however you want it, with the challenge that it MUST make your fabrics look absolutely stunning. Sounds like quite a task, right?

After days and days of thinking and raw-sketching (well, reaaaally raw I must confess), this is what we came up with, hope you like it!

Showroom1

Voila! How do you like it so far? The entire showroom was like a tribute to my Paradise collection... the whole concept of it was to make a mirror image using the opposite colorways (those quilts are twins!), and I personally think we executed pretty well... What do you think?

Showroom4

This is the "Sunrise" colorway...

Showroom2

Aaaand, the Sunset...

Showroom3

Showroom5

And last but not least, this is me looking picture-ready trying to match the prettiness of the showroom!

IMG_8562

What do you think? Your feedback to me is sooo important!

Oh and by the way, Paradise will be available in August (just in case you were wondering when you could put your super crafty hands on that fabric!) so be sure to check out your local quilt shop!

A bunch of exciting projects are coming up, so be prepared to see some interesting stuff going on here at Art Gallery...

Back to work now!

Love,

Pat.

Spring Market Recap (Part I)

Hey everyone!

I'm just back from the beautiful (and surprisingly warm!) city of Minneapolis, where, as you probably all know, the Spring Quilt Market was held.

All of you that were there will mostly agree that this was one of the Minneapolis shows with the most attendance, right? It was CRAAAAZY! From dawn til dusk setting up the booth, making sure there were enough catalogs and brochures (those just seemed to vanish into thin air!), shaking hands, walking around, talking and talking about my fabrics, patterns, kits, introducing my new collections, and on top of that, looking pretty for the pictures!

So, despite the seriously sore feet (note to self: run out of band- aids. Need to get more) and the lack of sleep, I totally managed to have the most fun in this show, and I hope you had the best time too!

But since I know you couldn't all be there, I took a ridiculous amount of pictures for you girls to see what you missed... so, without further adieu, I'm proud to present the Spring 2010 Art Gallery Booth!

Booth20

Booth5

Booth9

What do you think? I presented my Naturella, Filigree and Sugar collections in every way possible: pillows, quilts, cute little girl dresses, clothing, handbags, framed fabric,  even slippers!

I was thinking about how to describe this pillow until the lovely girls from Quilt Magazine beat me to it and named it "The Cabbage Pillow"! (now that I look at it... it really does look like a cabbage!

A little peek on my new blender... because everyone loves dots... OVAL ELEMENTS!

But it wasn't all about the fabric; of course I had to include my new line of mini sewing and quilting patterns, along with the regular-size ones, which also got new great additions like the Paris bag and the Monaco

It was all very pretty, but was it market-show-crazyness resistant? You bet!

How do you like it so far? And this is only part one... I still have the showroom pics! (I did warn you I took an immense quantity of pictures)

So stay tuned, more Quilt Market Spring 2010 coverage coming soon!

Pat.
